Bliss
This is my self portrait for my pre-thesis animation class. The instructions said you
couldn't use a computer so I had to hand color. I didn't have my Copic Markers. I am not very
skilled at using colored pencils.... I LOVE giraffes!!!!!!

Animal prints
Prints I did in printmaking class earlier semester for my midterm.
I messed up my peacock plate pretty bad and tried to fix it by aquatinting. I never got that great of a print out of the plate. I may do a version of the drawing in photoshop or with cutouts.
I hope to learn linography next semester in the advance class!
Mix of drypoint (hand etching) with hardground, softground for the eyes, and aquatint for the spots.
Etching on top of hardground, aquatint for the background and painting with ink.

Giraffe Sculpture
For the final for my sculpture class I made a giraffe out of (grapevine?) branches. It took me a long time to make my sculpture be able to hold its neck up! To work on it more effectively, a man in the sculpture studio helped me suspend it from the ceiling. It certainly made life easier.
I really love giraffes and have always been sadden by why they are killed. The sculpture is fully made of (grapevine) branches and is only held together by a rope called jute. I added leaves for its mane and tail.
It was pretty fun to make this even if it I was struggling to hold it still at times. It can't stand on its own so it is suspended by rope and held down by bricks. My peers that it was better that it cannot stand because it represents how giraffes need help to survive right now.
For the final project I really had no idea what I wanted to make. I like to draw more than make sculptures and have a hard time coming up with ideas for sculptures! So I decided to make something I love--a giraffe. I also wanted to make something that was delicate and pretty.

Here's a close-up of its face.

And its legs.
